Introduction
Since the first meeting in November 2002, the EuroTARN initiative consists of a regular participation of 14 countries and support from many others who have come together to develop an effective system to review the standards of trauma care across Europe and develop an effective method for future data collection.
Aims
The aims and objectives of this European Collaboration are:
- To promote high standards of care for trauma victims in Europe and
thereby reduce the associated burden of death and disability.
- In the short term to establish a common international data set so that
management strategies and their consequences can be compared.
- In the longer term to use the database to promote the development of
clinical guidelines and associated performance indicators.
- To study the epidemiology of trauma and thereby promote a
rational approach to injury prevention.
